Are Mormons allowed to eat frozen yogurt?

HELLO! Don't worry everyone I am alive. In case you hadn't heard, NC turned into Antarctica over the weekend. It was absolutely frigid. But no worries it's all melted now. Great thing about North Carolina is that Winter only lasts about 3 days.

Transfers happened and my dear Sister Streetman went home. She was one of the good ones and I was bummed to only have 6 weeks with her.

My new companion is Sister Herring! She actually was serving in the Wake Forest 2nd ward last transfer so we were in the same district together so she didn't move very far. She is from Orem, Utah. Her dad is Eli Herring, he is pretty well known for playing football at BYU and getting an offer to play for the NFL but turning it down so he wouldn't have to play football on Sundays. (Thought you would be interested in that Dad!) She's been out for 14 months.

So this week we found an awesome new investigator named Cynthia. We started tracting and picked a random building to start with and a random door and she opened it up and the first words out of her mouth were "Come in.” We always try not to act too shocked whenever that happens. Turns out the sisters had tracted into her before and she took it as a sign that she needs to visit our church that we came back again!  We had a lesson again with her last night.  She is very involved in her church but very open to learning and gaining more knowledge.  She didn't quite grasp the Restoration but the spirit was definitely present and she recognized it herself.  We are super excited about her!

Woke up Saturday morning and everything was covered in snow.  Haven't seen snow in 17 months and I found out I don't miss it at all haha. The bad thing was that there was frozen rain that came before the snow so underneath all the snow was a layer of ice over everything.  We weren't sure what to do so we just bundled up in all of our warmest clothes and hiked to a members house, the Henderson's, close by to borrow some shovels so we could do some service shoveling people's driveways.  We start on the first one and the man who lives there comes out a little confused as to what we were doing and why we were doing it.  Finds out who we are and he is actually good friends with the Hendersons. To make a long story short we end up in his house eating "snow cream." After that adventure we go do another driveway the man comes out again and is very appreciative, we ask him if there's anyone in the neighborhood that would need help with their driveway and he directs us to his neighbor who has Parkinson's.  His name is Jim.  We do his driveway and when we are about done he comes out and is super grateful for us helping him because there was no way he would have been able to do it.  NOW fast forward to Monday night we went to have an active member lesson with the Hendersons and they tell us that Jim had walked to their house to tell them how thankful he was for our service and that he knows that the Lord had sent him angels to help him.  His daughter also texted sister Henderson to thank her for whatever she had to do with us going over there to do the driveway because she had been worried about her parents in the storm.

It was so awesome because we really hadn't felt like we had accomplished much this week, but that experience made it all worth it.

Well I'm outta time, Love ya'll!

xoxo Sister Dearden
